PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Vikendi Map now available for the Xbox One

Even though Vikendi, PlayerUnknown’s Battleground’s latest snow map has been available for most platforms already, it had been yet to arrive on the Xbox One until early today. The latest patch for Xbox One was released on January 22nd 2019 at 03:00 hours Pacific Standard Time.

This patch update is preceded by a maintenance period from 23:00 to 03:00 PST after which, players will be able to download the latest updatable version of PUBG on their Xbox consoles and enjoy the new Snow Map Vikendi. This new update patch also brings around quite a few new changes for Xbox One players.

The map itself features the waiting area where players can throw snowballs at each other while they wait for others to join the lobby and for the game to start. Once the game starts, the new map will have major differences from the rest of the maps in the game. The biggest features of this map are how vehicles accelerate slower on snowy terrain and begin to slip and slide on icy roads and frozen terrain. While the game will not include destructible sheets of ice in their level design, it will still include footprints which are visible in the snow and remain around for a short period of time before disappearing, making the dynamics of gameplay on the map vastly different from other maps. This is already in addition to how all the ht drop locations in Vikendi are near the shore, rather than close to the centre of the map.

Apart from this, the game has added a new Field of View slider for FPP games for the Xbox. Furthermore, a graphics setting for the Xbox One X has also been added to help the players focus on performance or smoothness as per their preference.

As for gameplay, there have been additions of newer weapons, noticeably the Skorpion Sub Machine Gun which is now available on all maps. A new Assault Rifle, the G36C is now available on Vikendi only. Furthermore, the snowmobile is a new vehicle which can only be found on Vikendi and can be considered a true master of the snow as it does neither accelerate slower nor slip on snow.

Beyond that, it also brings around a new 10 week season with a new season pass which is upgradable to a Premium Pass and gives you loads of skins and other character customising rewards for completing various daily and weekly missions in addition to their challenge mission.
